You are the Alabaster Jar

A few weeks ago while worshipping the Lord during a local gathering/prophetic conference, I was led to go to the altar to worship. It was as if the Lord was calling me to pour myself out at His feet.

I had been realizing there was just so much I was holding onto and knew I just needed to stay there until I encountered His presence. After a few minutes of allowing everything to come to the surface, I heard these words, “NO MORE RUSHING AND BUSYNESS MY CHILD, SIT AND STAY AWHILE, LET IT ALL GO AND BLOW WITH MY WIND”.

How many of you can relate to falling into the trap of becoming a slave to time, a schedule, commitments, goals, tasks, desires, hopes, and dreams? It can happen to any one of us at any time in our walk with Christ.

As I stayed there on my knees, it was as if time stood still and I was right there with Jesus. I felt His presence, His love, His kindness, His patience, His essence. It was refreshing and renewing and long overdue.

He said to me the most beautiful words. He said, “YOU ARE THE ALABASTER JAR”. These words perfectly described the emotions, grief, disappointment, loneliness, exhaustion, and hopelessness I was pouring out at His’ feet.

“When a certain immoral woman from that city heard He was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume.” - Luke 7:37 NLT

I am sharing this to encourage you to respond to the invitation to sit at Jesus’ feet, to stay awhile, to let go, and to let God have His way.

As finite humans, we try so hard to make things happen in our own strength. However, we can learn a lot from and be encouraged by the scripture that tells us how Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet, to pour out everything she was and had at His feet. It was not just the expensive oil, but it was the tears, the pain of the past, the shame, the brokenness, the devotion, and the ultimate surrender. Nothing mattered to her at that moment except to be at His feet and to pour herself out.

The next time you find yourself in this place, remember the best place for you to be is at JESUS’ FEET pouring it all as an offering to Him and the GREAT PRICE He paid for us to have FULLNESS of LIFE.

“Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.” - John 12:3 NKJV
