Jesus is meeting you in “The Thick of It”

A word from the Lord

This is the day it all turns around. Jesus is meeting His people in their stuck places, in the throes of their battles, in the calamity and uncertainties of today. He is SHIFTING perspectives right back to HIM. We are in an Acts 2:17 season where HE is pouring out HIS SPIRIT on ALL FLESH. Many will have face to face encounters and receive a fresh drink of LIVING WATER from HIS WELL that will NEVER RUN DRY and will be forever changed.

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” - John 4:13-14 NKJV

A few weeks ago in a time of intimate worship, I was brought to the scene of the women at the well in John 4. I felt so strongly in my spirit the heaviness and burdens of many. I see what appears to be a fog of discouragement, rejection, and isolation attempting to pull many back into their caves.

And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” - 1 Kings 19:9 NKJV

The accusations and attacks assigned to silence and hinder any forward progress are heavy, leaving many weary and feeling stuck. These attacks seem to have come out of left field leaving many caught in a swirl of mixed emotions and a feeling of the wind being let out of their sails. I then clearly heard the Lord say, “I AM MEETING MY PEOPLE IN THE THICK OF IT.”

Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. - John 4:6-8 NKJV

I immediately felt my heart skip a beat at the relief and excitement of what the Samaritan woman felt when she realized that the Man that met her at the well was Jesus himself. He knew who she was, He knew her past and He knew the challenges and rejection she had faced by others because of who she was. It was so intense, that she came out to the well in the hottest part of the day just to avoid the shame and agony.

I had no context of what this term “THE THICK OF IT” was until I looked it up. The definition is, “in the most ACTIVE or INTENSE part of something; a SOLDIER in the thick of BATTLE” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary).

As I further researched this term, I was lead to a television series titled “The Thick of It”. It is a British comedy series that satires the inner workings of government. It highlights the struggles and conflicts between politicians, party spin doctors, advisers, civil servants and the media. I watched enough to

see how this mirrors what we are seeing today and the media’s attempt to spin the narrative for the benefit of the deep pockets rather than the people. In Colossians 2, verses 8-10, we are told to beware of cheating (corruption) through philosophy and empty deceit according to the tradition of men and the world, for in Christ we are complete and He is the head of all principality and power.

After the woman encountered Jesus and He told her all things that she ever did, she left her water pot and went to tell the others. It was through her testimony that many had came to see for themselves and encountered Jesus as well. When Jesus’ disciples returned, they were concerned He had not eaten. He then went on to tell them that His food is to do the will of GOD and to finish HIS work. I encourage all, that just like the woman at the well, we share our testimonies and encounters with the LIVING GOD so that others would come to know HIM as well. This is our time to encounter Jesus in the thick of it and to glorify His name!

And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. - Acts 2:17 NKJV
