Wisdom and Correction is the Father’s Love
In a time of prayer and ministering to my daughter, the anointing came on so strong and the Lord had much to say. We were both brought to tears for the conviction and wisdom our Father had released.
It can be quite challenging in this culture today of immediate gratification and being constantly fed information through technology and media. It breeds temptation and can take the focus off of God and His goodness. We are all constantly being fed lies of who we should be and how we should think.
As such, these are the most interesting and opportune times to raise a child and to lead others. As the enemy works overtime to indoctrinate and pervert them, it gives us an opportunity to minister to them, to speak truth into them, to teach them to identify the lies, turn to the word of God and seek His truth and heart in the matter. I received this scripture from the book of Proverbs under the title, “Further Wise Sayings of Solomon”.
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver. Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear. - Proverbs 25:11-12 NKJV
This scripture really hit home for my daughter as she recalled a verse in a Cory Asbury song called “I am Sorry”, which says, “a word unfitly spoken can steal an apple’s gold”. She never truly understood what that meant, until now.
This indeed is a word “fitly” spoken for such a time that we all need to hear. The understanding of this scripture is that an apple, silver and gold are all GOOD things, as is a wise rebuke. God corrects those He loves. I recall a time years ago where my daughter was seeking the Lord for understanding over a situation. She received a vision of being handed a rod from the Lord. She understood it to be a correction rod. This was quite humbling for her to be such a young and innocent child, but needing correction by Her Heavenly Father. In searching the scriptures, we were yet again brought to the book of Proverbs.
Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him. - Proverbs 22:15 NKJV
Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die. You shall beat him with a rod, And deliver his soul from hell. - Proverbs 23:13-14 NKJV
These scriptures seem rather harsh to most. However, Matthew Henry’s commentary gives us a better understanding as it says, “Here is a parent instructing his child to give his mind to the Scriptures. Here is a parent correcting his child: accompanied with prayer, and blessed of God, it may prove a means of preventing his destruction.”
In praying into this all and how it applies to His children and His church, I feel such a heaviness and heard this word as His heart cry.
“Why has My church allowed My children to become dull and lackluster? I have created them to be a light on a hill for all to see. I have given them a voice, which has been tainted and silenced by the toleration of seducing spirits. Why do you as parents and leaders in My Church, not preach My Spirit and My truth? Why do you not correct your sons and your daughters with a Word fitly spoken? Who has told you that it is not your place? Is it the same spirit that told Adam and Eve that they were naked? If not now then when, says the Lord of Hosts. Awake awake from your slumber and take your rightful place as parents and leaders and lead in My Spirit, My Truth and My Word. These are My children, teach them of My Spirit as the way that they shall go.”
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. - Romans 8:14-16 NKJV
