Double Down As We Countdown To Pentecost
A word from the Lord
As I walked through the foyer leaving my workplace earlier this week, my steps created a sound on the tile floor of the theme song for the famous game show Jeopardy. It is played toward the end as a countdown (double jeopardy) as one chooses to lay everything on the line—a double or nothing moment.
I felt as if I entered into a portal as the sound reverberated. I heard the Lord say, “DOUBLE DOWN” three times. It was in a tone of invitation and excitement. I got into my car and felt stirred to pray and I heard, “It is time for my people to DOUBLE DOWN as they COUNTDOWN to PENTECOST”.
According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of DOUBLE DOWN is: “to become more tenacious, zealous, or resolute in a position or undertaking.”
There is an extensive list of variations/synonyms for the term DOUBLE DOWN found on WordHippo. I have shared a few below that stood out. I believe they will resonate with many based on God’s Word and the current prophetic climate.
“STAND FIRM/HOLD FAST” - “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love.” - 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NKJV
“PERSEVERE” - “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” - James 1:12 NKJV
“GO THE DISTANCE” - “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. “- Hebrew 12:1-2 NKJV
“PLOW ON” - “But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” - Luke 9:62 NKJV
“PRESS ON” - “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” - Phillipians 3:13-14 NKJV
In the Old Testament, Pentecost was a time to celebrate the initial harvest feast. This happened 50 days after Passover and celebrated Israel’s deliverance from Egypt. It is an offering of first fruits decreed to Israel on Mount Sinai. We can find more about this in Exodus 34:22, Leviticus 23:15-22, and Deuteronomy 16:9-12.
In New Testament, Pentecost Sunday takes on a whole new meaning as it commemorates Holy Spirit falling upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ as they celebrated the Feast of Weeks. This fulfilled Jesus’ words that they would receive power from the promised Holy Spirit to glorify God’s name to all nations. We celebrate today to remember the gift of the Holy Spirit and to thank God for the power that lives within us, as well as the birth of His Church.
DOUBLE DOWN - YOUR STEPS AND YOUR SOUND
In praying into this word, I was brought to remembrance hearing this similar theme song and revelation in my spirit once before. In looking back, I found that it was in June of last year. The Word I released was titled, “This is Your Time”. I tell you there are no coincidences with God.
There is a deeper revelation of the significance of the STEPS and the SOUND which created the frequency that opened up a portal of revelation into what God is doing in this new season. As instructed in Ephesians 6:10-18, we are to put on the full armor of God. The third piece of armor is having our FEET shod with the preparation of the GOSPEL OF PEACE. The number 3 represents completion, the Trinity, the number of days to Jesus’ resurrection, and is the number of times God speaks when He wants to get our attention. Steps represent advancing, moving forward, and moving into your inheritance. It is the “GO” of the Gospel. SOUND is created by God and carries a frequency that shifts atmospheres.
I prophesy we are in a season of opening new realms of His glory by moving with and through sound to unlock greater mysteries and revelation. I believe this is a key to unlock and release the greatest move of God that is upon us.
I felt lead last night before bed to pray a prayer of deep repentance. According to Psalm 139, I invited God to search my heart and reveal all that is in me that is not in agreement with His word and plans. I laid everything at the His feet. Sometimes we do not even realize how much the world can get into us throughout our everyday lives if we are not careful and guard our hearts.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. - Psalms 139:23-24 NKJV
If you aren’t already, I encourage you to spend some extra time in prayer, laying everything down at His feet and inviting Him in to bring cleansing and healing. We are in treacherous times and the seas have been raging and rocking our boats. Some have even been shipwrecked and feel stranded on an island separate from reality. Fear not, as God is with you and will never leave you. Apostle John, the “Beloved”, went through hell and rather than being executed, he was cast away to the Island of Patmos. King Jesus met him there and showed him the greatest and mightiest of things as outlined in the book of Revelations.
God wants to heal hearts, minds and restore all that is lost and broken. If there is no better time to get right with God, it’s NOW. It's time to let go of the confusion, and double mindedness. Release any pain, hurt, offense, and grudges you have been holding onto to Jesus. Pray for a fresh baptism of His Holy Spirit in you just like in the book of Acts that we are celebrating now. We NEED His power and presence in our lives, in our churches, in our households, families, marketplace, government, and more. He CHOSE you and me for such a time as this to be His hands and His feet.
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” - Acts 2:1-4 NKJV
